Meeting at KWR Water offices for the 1st pilot demonstration in Granada

Tha PathoCERT technical team met in the amazing KWR Water offices to coordinate for our first pilot demonstration in Granada. The pilot in the city of Granada is designed to simulate a scenario for the detection of possible pathogen contamination, threat assessment and incident management system following a contamination caused by the mixture of wastewater and drinking water caused by an earthquake in the city of Granada.
Granada area supplies water to a population of around 600.000 inhabitants that could be affected by contaminated water in case of an earthquake as some of the pipes in the distribution network and wastewater collection could be broken and cause mixture of the water types.
The actions of this case study will revolve around the detection of possible pathogen contamination, threat assessment and incident management system after a contamination caused by the mixture of wastewater and drinking water, following an earthquake in the city of Granada.
The overall work will allow not only the identification of the pathogens in water but also the prevention of the spread of diseases, continuation of the water service and prevention of public panic. The following tools and technologies will be evaluated: PathoSENSE, PathoTHREAT, PathoINVEST, PathoWARE, PathoVIEW and PathoIMS.
