Last October, the Hellenic Rescue Team, in partnership with EYATH, organized and carried out a pilot exercise for the European project pathoCERT in the DELTA of the Axios river, near Thessaloniki.

The exercise’s success was attributed to the effective organization and cooperation among agencies and members, as well as the use of high-quality equipment and evolving technology.

The exercise aimed to test new developing technologies for the rapid detection of pathogens in water, as well as improve coordination between parties involved in search and rescue incidents.

The experiences we gained from the exercise were unique and taught us many things, but most importantly, they highlighted the major role of teamwork, while the outcome justified the hard effort of everyone involved in this project.
